March 2018

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that March is already here and that we only have 4 more months of school. We begin the month celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday by reading several of his books, using a variety of objects to measure our feet to go along with The Foot Book, and creating our own nonsense rhymes similar to There’s a Wocket in my Pocket. We will also be learning about rainbows, doing some fun St. Patrick’s Day literacy and math activities, and talking about Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Before going on to Kindergarten, the children are expected to know their birthday, address, and phone number. I will be sending home a paper in the chidren’s take home folders for you to fill in with this information. I know that many families have multiple phone numbers, so I ask that you choose one for your child to work on. Please review these important items with your child at home. We will also be practicing them in class.

There are quite a few children in class with summer birthdays. All of the children love celebrating with their friends during class so, since we have no birthdays in April, I am going to have these children celebrate then. I will be sending out a Sign Up Genius to those families so that you can pick a date in April that works best for you.

This cold/flu season has been especially bad this year and, as a result of all of those runny noses, we are running low on our supply of tissues. If you are out grocery shopping, we would appreciate if you could pick up an extra box to send in to tide us over for the remainder of the year.

Just a reminder to return your child’s report card envelope if you have not already done so.

Here are a few dates to mark on your calendars:

*Saturday, March 3-BLAST 7-11 PM

*Friday, March 16-Irish Dancers to visit

*Saturday, March 17-St. Patrick’s Day parade

*Thursday, March 29 -Holy Thursday Prayer Service @1:30

*Friday, March 30-Sunday, April 8-No School-Spring Break

As usual, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you.

Mrs. Koerner
