A Note from the Principal 10-15-21
10-15-21
Hi Everyone!
The weatherperson was absolutely correct! Thursday, October 7th turned into a glorious autumn day for our school Marathon! Our prayer service led by our 6th graders was just perfect. We cheered and danced and prayed together as a community right out on the school’s basketball court. Check out our pictures on our website (setoncs.org ), on Instagram (setoncatholicrochester) and on Facebook (@setoncs)!
Thanks again to Christina Wesley Thrall, Lisa Fleming, Sheila Campolieto, and the many parents who volunteered to make this event a huge success. A special thank you to Karen Williams for acting as our DJ! Thanks to all; whether you sent in snacks, stood on a corner, came by to lend support or walked with our kids. We are grateful for every one of you! On Friday Oct 22 all children will have a dress down day for selling sponsorships. Thank you, children, for being the very best school!
If you haven’t had a chance to send your pledges back in, please do so as soon as possible. Hopefully, we will have a final total next newsletter! Thank you also for continuing to be the most generous people I know!

6TH GRADE RETREAT
I am happy to say that our 6th grade retreat began yesterday and concludes today. So far it has been a wonderful success! Their focus is on “Service”! They are such an enthusiastic group and eagerly waiting to take on more responsibilities as our school leaders!
LOST & FOUND
Our Lost & Found collection has grown exponentially! If your child is missing anything, (glasses, sweatshirt, jacket, headband, water bottle, etc.…) please remind them to check the Lost and Found bin located right inside the school’s front door. It always amazes me that none of this stuff belongs to anyone!
iREADY
Our iReady assessments have been completed! Teachers will be using this data, along with data collected within the classroom setting, to develop strategies for meeting every student at their academic level. Your children worked hard and did their very best. Bravo to them!
QUARTER 1 REPORT CARDS
November 12th is the last day of the first marking period. Report cards will be made available to you on MSP on November 19th. Preschoolers do not receive a report card until the end of the 2nd quarter. This past Wednesday, 10/13/21, Mrs. Scott will be sending an email detailing how to access these reports.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES (Nov 22 &23)
Parent/Teacher conferences will again be held on Zoom this year. Teachers are sending out Sign-up Geniuses for you to choose a time. Please be mindful of your time slot. Another parent will be waiting their turn! Parent/Teacher Conference days are ½ days of school for our students. Students are released at 11:15 am.
HALLOWEEN
Halloween is soon upon us! This is a dress down day. Students may wear holiday appropriate colors (orange, black, purple, etc.). Please remind your children that there is no face paint, make-up, hair dye, crazy hats, etc. allowed. While we do not dress up in costumes, we do celebrate with classroom parties. The classroom liaisons will be in contact with you about providing individually wrapped snacks and drinks for your child’s classroom.
PICTURE MAKE-UP DAY
Our Picture Make-up Day is Friday, November 12. Any students who missed picture day or wishing to have their picture re-taken can come dressed up for their picture (out of uniform).
RED RIBBON WEEK
The week of October 25th, we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week to encourage our children, families and members of our community to live healthy, happy and drug-free lives. This week’s activities serve as a reminder that we are all empowered to shape our community through positivity, bravery and strength. We spend time talking to our students about making healthy choices and give them time and space to talk about their future hopes and dreams.
