A Note From the Principal 10/8/20
Hi Everyone!
This past month has just flown by! Every day I wonder at the amazing children who come through our doors. They are the kindest people I know. We begin the day speaking of kindness and how we can make each other’s day a little brighter. Teachers and staff are continually reinforcing this message to our children. I have had many opportunities to spend time with everyone during the school day. It is such a pleasant experience to engage with different groups and get to know them. I thoroughly enjoy your beautiful children! They are bright, fun, engaging, curious, and respectful. I am always proud of the way they represent Seton Catholic School. You are raising wonderful young ladies and gentlemen!
School Mass: Our first school mass was held today! Our 6th graders represented us as our mass leaders. Every month another class will act as our leaders. Congratulations to our 6th grade for all of their hard work in preparation. You really know a lot about St. Francis! While not all of us were able to attend in person, the rest of the school participated virtually. We are fortunate that our parish, Our Lady of Lourdes†St. Ann, live streams daily mass. Long Weekend Ahead! Just a reminder: This Friday, October 9th is Superintendent’s Day for teachers and staff with no school for students. Also, there is no school on Monday October 12th, for Columbus Day. Enjoy a long weekend with your family.
Also, Tuesday Nov. 3rd is our Teacher Retreat Day. There is no school for our students.
Seton Marathon: If the weatherman is correct, it will be a glorious morning for our Marathon event next Thursday, October 15th! Whatever the weather, please dress your children accordingly. If it is lightly raining, we will still walk! Send in rain coats, boots and umbrellas if need be. If steady rain is forecast, we will have our Marathon on the Rain Date, 10/16/20.
Our PK Marathon Days are always a big hit! They are held next Tuesday and Wednesday (10/13 & 14) during their morning hours! Our preschoolers do such a great job showing school spirit!
Our prayer service will be put on by our 6th grade on the lawn next to school at 8:30am. Please know that all are welcome to join us to pray and to help us cheer the children on as they walk the Marathon route! We only ask that you stay socially distant and wear your masks.
Christina Wesley Thrall, Lisa Fleming, Katie Brzezinski, and Sheila Campolieto have done a spectacular job getting everything ready! Thank you! Many parents have volunteered to make this event a success but there’s always room for more. Consider lending a hand or sending in treats. Covid flowchart: In this Green Envelope is the latest flowchart from Nurse Anne in conjunction with Dr. Tuite and Dr. Mendoza. The information comes directly from the NYS Department of Health. It gives a very clear path to help you to understand when your child is healthy enough to come to school and when to keep them home. Thank you for helping us to keep everyone safe and healthy!
Parent/Teacher’s Conferences: This year’s Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held in the afternoons of Monday & Tuesday November 23 &24th. All conferences will be held virtually this year. You classroom teachers will be sending out sign ups and Zoom links. These days are ½ days of school for all Seton students. Dismissal is at 11:15.
Picture re-takes: Tuesday Nov. 17th.
McQuaid Boys: Next Wednesday, October 14th, some McQuaid boys will be here racking leaves and generally helping out with outdoor cleanup from 9:00-11:00.
Lunch News: Our lunch program begins next Tuesday, Oct. 13th. If you missed out on ordering lunch this time, but would like to take-part in the future, please look on-line for ordering information. The new order cycle begins after Christmas Break.
Please note that lunch monitors are still needed for our lunch program! Mrs. Susanne Mayausky has done a great job organizing the program but still needs your help! Please speak with Susanne ([email protected]) or visit our sign-up genius to see what is still available or to put your name on a substitute list. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0d45ada72ea1f85-lunch1
Seton Personal Electronic Device Protocol: Included in the Green envelope is a copy of our Electronic Device Protocol. It is included in our Parent/Student Handbook and can also be found separately on the website under the “Parent” tab. Please review this important policy with your children. https://setoncs.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Electronic-device-protocol-10-1-19.pdf
Dress Code: We are still following our Fall/Spring Dress code. Students may wear their shorts until Nov. 1st. (Brrrr!)
Thank you for helping your children to dress according to our dress code. If you are unsure about what is acceptable, please check our Parent/Student Handbook on our website under the “Parent” tab: https://www.setoncs.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/SETON-UNIFORM-REQUIREMENTS.pdf
Sacramental Preparation: As we begin the school year, please remember that all sacramental preparation is done in your home parish.
The Diocese of Rochester’s Policies for the Administration of the Sacraments states:
