A Note from the Principal 11-12-21
With our first quarter of the school year concludes today, we are excited to start gearing up for the second quarter, as well as Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday! Our staff is coming up with incredibly creative ways to celebrate the many traditions that make Seton who we are! All Prayer Services and large gatherings will be held in the church. The only caveat is that if a funeral gets scheduled, we will have to make a last-minute change to our plans. Pray for no funerals! Second grade is preparing their Thanksgiving Prayer Service for 10:30 on Wed 11/23. First Grade is looking forward to their Thanksgiving Feast in school. Preschool is getting excited to celebrate their Advent Prayer Service on Dec. 21 at 10:30 in church. The full list is below and posted on our website calendar.
Our only virtual event will be our Christmas Concert. We realized that by holding it virtually, we are able to include the whole school in the musical review. Everyone is busy practicing, and it should be lovely! Stay tuned for more details!!!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED HELP!
Thank you for helping us stay in school 5 days a week. It is only with your continued vigilance that we are able to come to school every day. Sadly, the number of positive cases is continually rising once again. At school, we continue to be attentive to our best health practices and cleaning protocols to ensure we are keeping not only our immunocompromised students, but all of our students and staff safe. As changes in protocol are given to us by Monroe County Dept. of Health, we will share them with you.
If your child is 5 years old or older, one important thing you can do for us and your child is to get them vaccinated. Widespread vaccination for COVID-19 is a critical tool to best protect everyone, especially those at highest risk, from severe illness and death. People who are fully vaccinated can safely resume many activities that they did prior to the pandemic. Anyone who is fully vaccinated can travel without worries of quarantining upon return.
DMITRI HOUSE FOR THANKSGIVING
Once again, this year Seton has proven to be a wonderful support for those in need. Thank you to everyone who has sent in donations for the Dmitri House for Thanksgiving. The Dmitri House is a non-profit organization built upon the belief that every human being has immeasurable value. The Dmitri House offers food, shelter, and services that help people on their journey to self- sufficiency. We are accepting donations through Wed. Nov. 17th and will deliver on either the 18th or 19th. Thank you!
INTERACTIVE BOARDS
The paddle call for last year’s BLAST was for the purchase of new Interactive Boards for our classrooms. We estimate that the ones currently in use are about 15-18 years old! We were fortunate to raise enough for 5 new boards and they were installed over the Election Day day off. Our grade 3-6th graders are busy learning how to use this new technology and are thrilled! Thank you to Scott Essler and his crew (Jim Coyne, Karol Hyjek, Rich Laudisi, Tom Rued, and Mike Demlein) for making this installation happen! My hope is to be able to replace the other classroom boards as quickly as possible.
A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO
Former Seton alumni, Owen Compisi who was asked to play the National Anthem at the Section V semi-final football game for McQ this past Friday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ac1DiOj_LY Enjoy!
Another former Seton alumni, Katarina Szulgit will play the role of Belinda Cratchit in Geva’s Christmas Carol. She is part of the Red cast. Be sure to go see her in action!
Bravo to Mrs. Mary Kate Koecheler on her professional development offering, Backwards Design Lesson Planning. Participants commented that it was an excellent and useful presentation – on a topic that strengthens teaching and understanding.
And to Mrs. Sara Stafford who is part of the Robert Dean Chorale and was featured on Spectrum News as part of a Veteran’s Day feature! They sound mighty good! https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/rochester/good-news/2021/11/10/spencerport-volunteer-chorus-creates-special-video-honoring-local-veterans#

QUARTER 1 REPORT CARDS
November 12th (today) is the last day of the first marking period. Report cards will be made available to you on MSP on November 13th. Report cards will come home with your child next Friday, Nov. 19th. Please return the blue card (signed by you) and the report card envelope on Monday 11/22. Preschool will not receive a report card until the end of the second quarter.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES (Nov 22 &23)
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Zoom this year. Teachers have sent Sign-up Geniuses to their families. Please be mindful of your time slot. Another parent will be waiting their turn! Parent/Teacher Conference days are ½ days of school for our students. They will be released at 11:15 am. To the best of our knowledge, busing will be provided by most districts with the exception of: Fairport, Rush/Henrietta, and Churchville/Chili. I would advise contacting your district for confirmation.
LOCK DOWN DRILLS
We have gotten our fall fire drills out of the way and are about to begin our annual Lock-down drills. In the coming weeks we will begin to practice our safety procedures for potentially dangerous situations. We are required to practice 4 times each year. It is not our goal to frighten children and therefore we will be taking a low-key but serious approach. We will continue to reinforce to our students that the need to practice lockdowns is the same as the need to practice fire-drills.
