A Note from the Principal 11/6/20
With our first quarter of the school year concluding today, we are excited to start gearing up for the second quarter, as well as Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday!
It is only with your continued vigilance that we are able to come to school every day. All around us we are hearing about infection rates rising. Thank you for helping us stay in school 5 days a week. At school, we continue to be attentive to our best health practices and cleaning protocols to ensure we are keeping our students and staff safe.
Our staff is coming up with incredibly creative ways to celebrate the many traditions that make Seton who we are! Second grade is preparing to video their Thanksgiving Prayer Service. First Grade is checking out their options for their Thanksgiving Feast. Preschool is getting excited to celebrate their Advent Prayer Service. The list goes on and on. Please know, we are planning to celebrate the holiday season the same as ever. We will just be doing a lot of it on-line. One exciting change to look forward to is that Ms. Snyder is eager to include the whole school in our Christmas concert! Stay tuned for more details!!!
BLESSING BAG SERVICE PROJECT
The Seton community is known for kindness and generosity. This year, we will focus our first big effort on providing Blessing Bags to people who are not as fortunate as we are. These bags will serve as a tangible means to our students to provide comfort and send a message to the less fortunate during this difficult time, and that they have not been forgotten, and that God loves them.
Every classroom will have a hand in this project! Your teachers will send home a request for items we’d like to include in these Blessing Bags. I thank you in advance, for your kindness and compassion. After we work together to assemble our bags, we will deliver them to the Open Door Mission.
Another Service project that is quickly finishing up is the collection of gently used books. We will donate these books to a city school for distribution. Please send in your books!
MARATHON
Thank you to all of the 2020 Seton Marathon volunteers! We had great weather and great fun. The totals are in and the Marathon Committee is happy to report that we raised almost $2,000 more than last year (2020: $14,223/ 2019: $12,185 ) Great job everyone!!
Congratulations to Miss Cole’s class for raising the most money overall AND the most per capita! The committee will be in touch with Mrs. Cole to schedule the special classroom lunch.
Below are some additional worthy statistics:
Miss. Cole – Highest Total Amount per Class ($2,488)
Miss. Cole – Highest Amount per Capita ($146)
Miss. Cole – Highest % of Class Contributing to Pledges (94%)
Mrs. Fragale – Highest Average per Contributing Student ($171)
Alanna Essler, 4F- Highest Student Total Pledge ($520)
Thanks again and congratulations to everyone for such a successful fundraising event! Thanks again to our committee: Sheila Campolieto, Christina Thrall, Lisa Fleming, and Katie Brzezinski
REMOTE LEARNING
While we are ecstatic that we are able to continue to come to school every day, and hope to continue doing so for the next 140 school days, our staff has been developing a school-wide plan in the event that we are required to be out of school for an extended amount of time. We are being mindful of the needs of our families with more than one student in school in addition to keeping in mind what is appropriate for each grade level. As soon as the plans are finalized, I will share them with you.
REMINDERS
Please send utensils for snacks and lunches if needed. It is one of our protocols for keeping down transmission rates. By sending in utensils from home you are helping us to stay safe.
As a courtesy to the neighbors around school, please shut off the engine of your car while you wait for dismissal.
2ND GRADE TREES
We are looking for volunteers to help cut out Mrs. Moonan’s Christmas trees for the 2nd grade Christmas tree project. If you can help, please let her know. [email protected]
QUARTER 1 REPORT CARDS
November 6th (today) is the last day of the first marking period. Report cards will be made available to you on MSP on November 13th. Preschoolers do not receive a report card until the end of the 2nd quarter. This past Wednesday, 10/21/20, Mrs. Johnson sent an email detailing how to access these reports. Please refer to this email for directions.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES (Nov 23 &24)
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Zoom this year. Teachers are sending out Sign-up Geniuses for you to choose a time. Please be mindful of your time slot. Another parent will be waiting their turn! Parent/Teacher Conference days are ½ days of school for our students. They will be released at 11:15 am. To the best of our knowledge, busing will be provided by most districts with the exception of: Fairport, Rush/Henrietta, and Churchville/Chili. I would advise contacting your district for confirmation.
