A Note from the Principal 12/17/21
As I sat down to write this newsletter, I spent some time reflecting back over all that has happened so far this year! We are so very Blessed! Your children come to school every day prepared and eager to start a new day of learning. Our teachers cherish every child and continually look for ways to inspire them. I believe, however, that none of this would happen without parents like you who love their children and trust the professionals in our school to make the best decisions for your children’s education! Without parents like you, we would have never been able to pull it off. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
God Bless you!
Patty

Please contact your district transportation department to confirm if bussing home will be available for your child on half day dismissal Wednesday 12/22. Some districts have already pulled back from providing transportation.
If your child is usually a bus rider on Wednesdays and will NOT be taking the bus home, send a note in with them indicating they will be picked up that day.
FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Nurse Anne has noted that many of the younger students are outgrowing their masks. The masks are not covering their nose. If necessary, Nurse Anne can supply them with a pediatric mask for the day.
STUDENT COVID TEST KITS
Monroe County has given our school enough student test kits for every student in our school to be given one. They are available for distribution starting tonight at the Christmas Celebration. They will also be available at the Preschool Prayer Service and the 1st grade Prayer Service. If you are not able to get yours at one of these events, please contact the school office to make arrangements. Here is a link to a video that will show you how to perform the test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ4SU02pBT8
We encourage you to use them on the Sunday before the school reopens.
ADVENT/CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS
Last Monday, Grades PK-2nd were treated to a visit from St. Nicholas. This is an ongoing tradition at Seton and one that is looked forward to. While the original St. Nicholas did inspire the legend of Santa Claus, the St. Nicholas we celebrate on December 6th has his own inspiring story of service to others; especially children and those in need. I was so proud to hear a child explain to Fr. Tyman that St. Nicholas’ message was that the best gift we can give to anyone is the gift of kindness!
Our Christmas Concert video was going to be released yesterday but unfortunately we ran in to some technical difficulties. The YouTube link was sent out earlier today and I hope you take some time with your families to watch it together over the weekend. It is also here: https://youtu.be/ClDLQfNSqVE
Our hope is that next year we will be able to again hold our concerts in person!
NEXT WEEK’S PRAYER SERVICES
Next week we have two prayer services to finish out our School’s celebration of Advent. On Tuesday at 10:30, our Preschool families will join their children for their Advent Prayer Service in the church. Then on Wednesday, our 1st graders will lead the whole school community and our guests in their annual Christmas Prayer Service. This Prayer Service is at 10:30 to accommodate our scheduled ½ day release time. Please join us on Wednesday if you’d like a special boost to your Christmas spirit!
SETON OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
Tonight, is our Outdoor Christmas Celebration from 5-7 pm! Our PTA is doing an incredible job!! If you can, please plan to join us. Out basketball court will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland. There will be games, hot chocolate will be available, our concert will be shown and maybe a special guest will appear! Be sure to dress for the event, the school building will not be open. We will end with our annual Flagpole tree lighting! What a way to welcome in Christmas and celebrate the birth of baby Jesus!
SETON STUDENTS TALK ABOUT CHRISTMAS
Recently, we were visited by a reporter from the Courier who interview a few of our students about Christmas! Check out this adorable video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjBRiqjk7oM&t=8s
Thank you to the following students for sharing and thank you to their families for allowing them to take part in the interview. Featured: 1st Graders – Reed Dublin, Annaliese Hansen, and Rose Thurston. Kindergarten – Maksym Oryshkevych
A SPECIAL THANK YOU
Thank you to Noah and Adele Pensgen’s grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Muller, for the beautiful Nativity Set they donated to Seton. The pieces are heirlooms from pre- & post-WWII Germany. We have the Nativity Scene set up in a display case in our hallway for all to see.
SETON SERVICE PROJECTS: SALVATION ARMY FAMILIES
This Christmas our school, in conjunction with the Salvation Army, has the opportunity to help support local families who are in need. We have been given information for five families who will not be able to provide a traditional Christmas celebration for their family without some help. We will collect food, gift cards, and presents over the next few weeks that will then be delivered to these families before Christmas. Donations, even small ones, are meaningful and help make a difference for these families. We are still in need of some items and you can drop them off at the Christmas Celebration tonight. 2022-2023 AUTO REGISTRATION
As hard as it is to believe, it will soon be time for our 2022-23 school year registration. Once again, this year, this is an automatic re-enrollment process. As current families, you will have access to our priority enrollment until January 18, 2021. Your children, whether they are returning or new enrollments, will have the first slots for their grade level. On January 19, 2021, we will open our enrollment to new families who are currently on the waiting list and those coming in to register. Be on the lookout for your form after Christmas Break! Every current family that returns their form by Tuesday 1/18/22, will receive a dress down pass for each of their children.
REGISTRATION FOR NEXT YEAR
Our finance department has been hard at work in preparation for next year! As every other year, our tuition will increase by about the 3% to provide a cost of living raise to our teachers and staff. As with last year the $20 supply fee will also be rolled into the tuition cost for the 2022-2023 school year. Right after Christmas break, an Auto-enrollment confirmation form will be sent home to you via kid-mail. These need to be returned by February 18th. If we do not receive your form, we will assume you are returning, and you will be charged a registration fee of $150 on or around March 15th through your FACTS account. Do not send in a registration fee check. Your facts account will be charged this fee on March 15th. Please note, that we are receiving many inquiries and to ensure your child’s place for next year, please return this form as soon as possible.

TESTING SCHOOL WIDE TEXT COMMUNICATION
Ready or not winter is upon us, although we did break a high temperature record on Thursday. There is always a possibility that we could close due to inclement weather. One simple and quick method we use to communicate this out to everyone is via text.
To test the system a text message will be sent to all parents Preschool through sixth grade. The text will be sent this Saturday at noon stating the following; “SetonCatholic: This is a test of our text communication system. Thank you.”.
If you do NOT receive the text please notify the office, this means that we probably have your cell number incorrect.
