A Note from the Principal 5-21-21

Hi everyone,

We are starting to see our lives at school getting busier and busier! With only a little more than a month to go, we have a lot to fit in!

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in our Seton’s Got Talent Show! It was so much fun to watch! For all of you who were not able to tune in, here’s a link! https://vimeo.com/548840155/70fc4beb36

Congratulations also to our April Students of the Month!  Jack Benoit (6K), and Ben Taylor (3M) show us all everyday how to exemplify what is to be a Seton student. They are both continually stand out for their  kindness and hard work! Both students were nominated by their classroom teacher. Congratulations Jack and Ben!

We recognize two Seton students every month throughout the year.

Monday, Mrs. Mary Scott began to cover our office in Mrs. Johnson’s absence. She will be with us until we find someone more long term. Mrs. Johnson is taking a leave of absence.

Paddle Call!  The BLAST 2021 Committee is winding down its fundraising efforts and I am sending out one last call for Paddle Call donations!

All paddle call funds (around $11,000 so far) will go to replace the 15 year old Smart Boards in our classrooms with the latest and greatest in smart board technology. Each new Smartboard costs around $4,000. The pledge form is attached. Thanks for all of your support!

This past Tuesday, prep work began on the school’s courtyard pavement for our new volleyball net system to replace our existing one. This is the first phase of the basketball court refurbish funded by the class of 1973. Thank you to the very generous alumni who love our school so much that they wanted to make this project happen!

The book fair (May 24-28) will be held outside on the driveway by the school’s garage. The carts will be wheeled in and out of the garage. A schedule will come out for previews and buying. Information was sent home on Tuesday.

Our May Crowning will be held May 28th at 9:00, and will take place outside on the school’s lawn as a whole school prayer service. We encourage all students (grades PK-6) to bring flowers from their home garden for our May Altar. Our 6th graders will be our prayer service leaders.

May Day: is also being celebrated on May 28th. Thank you in advance to our PTA for buying flowers for our whole school to plant! Every child will have a chance to plant a flower or two! If you would like to help with prepping the gardens during the week of May 24th.

The Great 6th Grade Egg Drop This is one of our very fun traditions! Our 6th grader’s final science investigation will take place on Tuesday June 8th at 12:30 pm.  The 6th graders test their (hopefully) well designed gravity powered egg delivery devices out their classroom window and the whole school cheers them on the basketball court! What a way to conclude science!

2nd grade 1st Communion Mass: 6/11/21 at 8:30 am. This mass is the first one that our 2nd graders get to go to communion together. They will have already made their communions at their home parishes. Second grade parents (parents only) are invited join us for mass. A reception is scheduled to be held in the church’s courtyard following mass. If it rains, the children will come back to school and have a celebration in their classroom. As with all other school masses, the rest of the school will “you-tube live” in for mass.

Grades K-6 Field Days are a go! Mr. D.  has been working hard to get things in place. In past years we have relied heavily on parents. This year Mr. D has devised activities that will not need extra help. Hopefully next year we will be back to allowing all parents to come. However, we will need you to send in snack items! Check out Mr. D’s sign up.

The Scheduled dates are June 15 for grades K-3 (ALL DAY) and June 16 for grade 4-6 (ALL DAY). Out rain dates are June 17: Grades K-3 (ALL DAY) & June 18 Grade 4-6 (ALL DAY) Preschoolers are our cheerleaders on both days!

Our Spring Concert is tentatively scheduled for June 17th as a you-tube video release. Grades K-6 will all participate!

 Grades K-2 Donuts with Dad

Grades K-2 Donuts with Dad/Special Friends will take place on Friday, June 18th at 7:30 am! Grades K-2 students will have a chance to say thank you to their dads/special friends on the basketball court.  This is one of our wonderful primary grade only events!  Grades 3-6 are asked to please be considerate of our younger students and their guests.

At 8:00, the boys and girls will come into school and the Dads/friends will go to work! Dads and special friends, bring a picnic blanket, a book to enjoy with you student and your love for donuts! If this is a rainy day, the students will be served their donuts in their classrooms and they will bring home their donut for their dad/special friend.

Our PK Celebration will be held on Monday, June 21 on the side lawn during the morning. PK families will be welcomed to come with their picnic blankets to join us! The preschool teachers will be giving their families more information soon.

Our Kindergarten Celebration will be held on Tuesday June 22 in church. This will be attended by parents and kindergarteners only. No siblings this year. Kindergarteners and their parents will then go to a park for an end of the year picnic. The kindergarten teachers will be giving their families more information soon.

Godspeed is our last celebration with our 6th graders. It will be held on Wednesday, June 23. The mass is for 6th grade and their parents. Sorry to say, no siblings will be able to attend. The whole school will be present for this sendoff through “you-tube live”. The Godspeed reception will follow in the church’s courtyard and is hosted by the 5th grade parents.

Our Students’ Last Day: Can you believe we are talking about the last day of school? Our last day is on Thursday, June 24th. It is a 11:15 dismissal. We will hold a 10:00 prayer service outside on the school lawn. Parents are welcome to come for this last celebration. Following the prayer service, students may leave with parents if their parents choose.

Seton Sea Breeze Day: Our tradition of starting off our summer vacation with a family trip to Sea Breeze is on! Following dismissal from school, families are welcome to go to sea breeze to meet up with friend and enjoy the rides! (11:00 am- 8:00 pm) Tickets will go on sale soon.

I know there is more but this is enough for now.
