Note from the Principal 10/3/2019
This past month has just flown by! Every day I wonder at the amazing children who come through our doors. They are the kindest people I know. We begin the day speaking of kindness and how we can make each other’s day a little brighter. Parents and staff are continually reinforcing this message to our children. I have had many opportunities to spend time with everyone during the school day. It is such a pleasant experience to engage with different groups and get to know them. I thoroughly enjoy your beautiful children! They are bright, fun, engaging, curious, and respectful. I am always proud of the way they represent Seton Catholic School. You are raising wonderful young ladies and gentlemen!
SETON MARATHON
If the weatherman is correct, it will be a glorious morning for our Marathon event next Thursday, October 10th! Whatever the weather, please dress your children accordingly. If it is lightly raining, we will still walk! Send in rain coats, boots and umbrellas if need be. If steady rain is forecast, we will have our Marathon on the Rain Date, 10/24/19.
Christina Wesley Thrall, Sheila Campolieto and Karen Benacci have done a spectacular job getting everything ready! Thank you ladies. Many parents have volunteered to make this event a success but we still need more corner volunteers. Presently, we are lacking enough volunteers to safely man our traditional route. If we do not have enough volunteers a modified course will be used. Consider coming to lend a hand. The web link is as follows: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0f4aaba82ca2f94-marathon
Our prayer service, put on by our 6th grade, begins on the outside basketball court at 8:30. Please know that all are welcome to join us to pray for, and to help us cheer the children on as they walk the Marathon route!
Our PK Marathon is always a big hit! They are held next Tuesday and Wednesday (10/8 & 9) during their morning hours! Our preschoolers do such a great job showing school spirit! Come walk with us to join the celebration!
SETON FALL PARENT SOCIAL
Our Parent Social is quickly approaching! Every year our PTA sponsors this evening to welcome new parents and to reconnect long-time families! Please plan to join us on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Midtown Athletic Club from 6-9pm. See the flyer in the Brown/Green Envelope for more information.
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Many after school activities have begun. Running Club, Soccer, MTKC (Glee Club) and Scouting are all proving to be great successes. Thank you to Mr. Demlein for stepping up to coordinate our CYO Soccer program. Without him, we would not have soccer this year! CYO Basketball sign-up will begin soon. Spanish Enrichment for K-6 begins on the 21st of October!
Sadly, Chess Club is still on hold until we find parent leadership. We are looking for 4 parents/ grandparents willing and able to volunteer one afternoon a month to oversee the Chess Club. You do not need to know how to play chess to volunteer! We have people to do that! If you are able to help out please let the school office know or sign at the link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0f4aaba82ca2f94-chess
Thank you in advance to all our volunteers who make these activities run smoothly.
LUNCH NEWS
Our lunch program began this past Tuesday. If you missed out on ordering lunch this time, but would like to take-part in the future, please look on-line for ordering information. The new order cycle begins after Christmas Break.
Please note that lunch monitors are still needed for our lunch program! Mrs. Susanne Mayausky has done a great job organizing the program but still needs your help! Please call the office, speak with Susanne ([email protected]) or visit our sign-up genius to see what is still available or to put your name on a substitute list. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0d45ada72ea1f85-lunch1
PROGRESS REPORTS
First quarter Progress Reports come home tomorrow! The tradition at Seton is that EVERY student receives a progress report for the first quarter. All following Progress Reports are distributed on an as needed basis. Please remember, our teachers are always available to conference with you. Contact your child’s teacher if you ever have any concerns.
SETON PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICE PROTOCOL
Included in the Brown envelope is a copy of our Electronic Device Protocol. It is included in our Parent/Student Handbook and can also be found separately on the website under the “Parent” tab. Please review this important policy with your children. https://www.setoncs.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Electronic-device-protocol-10-1-19.pdf
LONG WEEKEND AHEAD!
Just a reminder: Next Friday, October 11th is Superintendent’s Day for teachers and staff with no school for students. Also, there is no school on Monday October 14th, for Columbus Day. Enjoy a long weekend with your family.
DRESS CODE
We are still following our Fall/Spring Dress code. Students may wear their shorts until November 1st.
Thank you for helping your children to dress according to our dress code. If you are unsure about what is acceptable, please check our Parent/Student Handbook on our website under the “Parent” tab: https://www.setoncs.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/2019-2020-Seton-Parent-Student-Handbook-1-2-1.pdf
