A Note From the Principal 12/ 5/2019

Learning & Living Kindness

This past Sunday began Advent! In just a little less than four weeks we will be celebrating Christmas and New Years with our loved ones and moving quickly into 2020! While there is so much to do until then, we should take the time to reflect on all of the wonderful things that have happened in 2019 and appreciate all of the gifts God has given to us in the company of each other.

We are also over-joyed to be able to move back into our Gym, Art, and Music Rooms after the renovation! PE began in the gym this week and we are hopeful to have Art and Music returned to their classrooms very soon.

There are so many gifts to be grateful for that we take for granted on a daily basis. One is that of generosity! Our children are serving others in many ways this season. Currently, our preschool and our 2nd grade have adopted Salvation Army sponsored families for the Holiday Giving Project. Our 6th grade is collecting pet supplies for the Verona Street Animal Shelter and will begin collecting toiletries for St. Andrew’s Food Cupboard next week. 4th grade created and sent Christmas cards to the Seminarians last week. While individual classes are spearheading these projects, all are welcome to participate.  If you’d like to help with any of these causes, check out the flyers in today’s Brown Envelope. Thank you for supporting these worthwhile efforts!

Today we began our safety procedures for potentially dangerous situations. We are required to practice 4 times each year. It is not our goal to frighten children and therefore we will be taking a low-key but serious approach. We will continue to reinforce to our students that the need to practice lock-downs is the same as the need to practice fire-drills.
