Note from the Principal
Can you believe January is halfway over? As I write this, our registration information for next year is being readied and included with this Brown Envelope.
In an effort to give our families a more convenient way to register, our 2020-21 school year registration will be an automatic re-enrollment process! Look in this Brown/Green envelope for a letter describing the very easy process.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS’ WEEK
One of our favorite weeks is upon us! Below is a little insight into the events in grades Kindergarten-6. Preschool has their own schedule because of the many program options. We want to be sure that all preschoolers get to enjoy the many fun events too!
Sunday, Jan. 26- Saturday Feb. 1- Scholastic Book Fair! begins after mass on Sunday, and runs through the end of the Winter Carnival on Saturday. You will find the book fair in the Conference Room next to the main office. Daily hours will be provided soon.
Sunday Jan. 26-Catholic Schools’ Week begins with Mass at OLOL this Sunday Jan. 26th @ 10:30. We will be celebrating all week! Following mass we will have a reception in the school and the bookfair will be open. After that, come join us for Seton Day at the Cinema (957 S. Clinton Ave) where “Aladdin”(animated version) will be shown. The start time is 12:30 (doors open at 12:00). The movie is free, but concessions are cash only. BLAST tickets will be raffled and dress down passes will be given to all student attendees.
Monday, Jan. 27- We begin the day with bagels and juice in the classrooms. Throughout the day, our students will be participating in an obstacle course with buddies! Please remember to send your children in their spirit wear! Spirit wear is any shirt or sweatshirt with a Seton logo! We wear spirit wear with our Seton uniform pants or skirts.
Tuesday, Jan. 28- Tuesday is board game day and Pajama Day! Students bring in a favorite board game to play with their buddies. Don’t forget to put their name on the game!
Pajamas are required to be school appropriate. Please no violent logos, or flimsy pajamas. Shoes will also be required apparel due to safety concerns. If your child has PE on Tuesday, they may wear sneakers.
Wednesday, Jan. 29- We will create valentines with buddies for the residents of the Mercy Motherhouse and OLOL parishioners who cannot get out and about. Our 6th grade will attend Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral as our representatives. When they return, they will be our “scoopers” for our Ice Cream Sundaes.
Wednesday night is our Seton family Open House from 6:30-7:30 PM. Students and their families come in to check out our classrooms and all of our hard work. Don’t miss the 5th grade “Alien Museum” in the Science Lab!
Thursday, Jan. 30- Thursday begins with our Family Breakfast from 7-7:50. Please plan to attend with your children to enjoy a light breakfast.
Following breakfast Crazy hats and socks will begin. Everyone wears their craziest hat and funkiest socks. It’s always so fun to see what families come up with!
Thursday is also our Challenge 24 Tournament for grades 4-6. This highly competitive tournament is held in the gym. Upstairs, on the main floor, grades PK-3 will take over the hallway for a very fun game of Bingo.
Friday, Jan. 31- Friday is “Soup”er Bowl. Everyone wears their favorite sports jerseys or attire and brings in a can of soup to donate to Foodlink. We will finish out the school week by enjoying the Seton Cinema. Grades K-6 will have the opportunity to choose a movie and go to the theater (classroom) showing that movie. Popcorn and juice will be served during the movie. PK will watch a movie together in the morning.
Saturday, Feb. 1- But wait we aren’t done! Saturday, from 4:30-6:30, is our Winter Carnival and the last day for the Scholastic Book Fair. Our 5th and 6th graders, and some alumni, have been working together to create games for the younger students to play and win! This is a much anticipated event! Please come and join in the fun.
PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES
Our Information Night for Kindergarten and Preschool was held last night. Prospective parents came to check out our school! If you know of anyone looking for a preschool, kindergarten, or elementary option, please let them know that we give tours of the school whenever it’s convenient for the family. Seton is Rochester’s best kept secret and we need to start spreading the news about our school and what it has to offer! Like us on Facebook and tell all your friends!
